Previews of sneakers celebrating the Year of the Snake, the Chinese zodiac sign for 2025’s Chinese New Year, have flooded the internet in the last few weeks. Outside of the multiple Nike sneakers, from the AF1 to the Dunk Low, that commemorate the zodiac, models from Jordan Brand have begun to appear via early imagery. Now, after getting our first looks at pairs like the Jordan 1 Low OG and Jordan Tatum 3, images of the Air Jordan 5 Retro Year of the Snake emerged.
Unlike other celebratory pairs, this AJ5 keeps things relatively calm and neutral throughout its design. A light bone hue is applied to the nubuck leather panels on the mudguard, toebox, midfoot, collar, and heel, while the same shade takes over the plastic netting along the midfoot. Tonal cream hues move onto the TPU eyestays, non-3M tongue, and lace set, hosting a custom snakeskin-laden Jumpman hangtag.
The Jumpman logo on the heel and tongue is not visible in the photo, but based on the metallic silver finish applied to the hang tag, these other logos will follow suit. Down below is where we see our second nod to the snake motif. Most of the sole unit comes in a tonal neutral shade, sans the shark teeth near the forefoot, which, just like the Tatum 3 part of this Year of the Snake collection, comes in a multi-color iridescent finish. Finishing the design is the clear rubber outsole.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro Year of the Snake W will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is $200.
