Jordan Brand is always looking back to find fun and unique stories to reinterpret as sneaker colorways. For this Japanese exclusive, the Jumpman squad is digging deep into the archives to remember a trip Jordan and some NBA legends took to Japan in 1996, and the local sporting luminaries they met with.
Sumo Slam
Taking its nickname from photos of Jordan meeting with champion sumo wrestlers during the 1996 cultural exchange, the Air Jordan 12 Retro Sumo incorporates Japanese themes throughout. Gold family crest accents pop on the black and purple colorway, with laser-cut wave graphics bringing the theme to life.
