After leaving Cole Haan, Yeezy, and Versace behind, Salehe Bembury forged his path forward in the footwear world, becoming a freelance collaborator who works with many partners, including Crocs, New Balance, and now Puma. Bembury has expanded the models under his partnership with Crocs, as we’ve recently been teased with the latest silhouette, the Cypress, via in-hand imagery on Salehe’s Instagram. Following looks at the Red colorway, we have looks at a new Mallard color scheme.
Featuring the same construction as the Red rendition, this new colorway sees a canvas collar and tongue resembling a Converse Chuck Taylor. Accenting white stitching around this canvas adds to the Chuck Taylor look, and we see an added Crocs Salehe tag attached to the lateral side. Co-branding for the duo continues onto the tongue tag, featuring the silhouette’s name: Cypress. For the toe and midfoot of this boot, we see a burgundy-shaded Croslite foam construction with perforation cutouts on the toe not entirely being cut out, giving the appearance of a typical Classic Clog but providing protection from the elements. The gum rubber sole unit rounds out the design, which continues the 3D fingerprint design motif Bembury has become famous for.
The Salehe Bembury x Crocs Pollex Cypress Mallard will release December 12, 2024, through Salehe Bembury’s Be A Spunge website. A wider release via Crocs and select retailers online and in-store will take place on December 17. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
