Although Asics is heralded for its performance running and comfort-focused silhouettes, the brand still dabbles in outdoor footwear. Teaming up with fellow Japanese label nonnative, Asics is revisiting a collaboration the duo first launched in December 2020 with the Gel-Yetitokyo Hi GTX model. A black and clay color scheme defined the model when it was first introduced, but it now lands in a Brown Storm variant.
A traditional suede upper, something familiar to outdoor boots, is present in a single shade of Brown Storm, covering the loosely-formed boot that takes its shape once put on foot. This premium material is coated with Gore-Tex to help resist outdoor elements, with Gore-Tex branding proudly debossed onto the tongue below the Asics logo. Nonnative and Asics add a quick lace setup attached via metallic silver hardware and loops around the pull tab back on the heel to aid containment.
Inside, the silhouette gets a cream-white finish, contrasting the earthy brown of the suede upper and lace set. Below is a Gel-cushioned foam and rubber midsole in a tonal beige finish, paired with a lugged rubber outsole for traction on outdoor surfaces.
The nonnative x Asics Gel-Yetitokyo Hi GTX Brown Storm will release on January 11, 2025, through nonnative, Asics, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is approximately $220.
