The success of Asics has mainly rested on the brand’s multitude of Y2K-styled mesh runners. Instead of continuing to pump out more colorways of key models like the Gel-Kayano 14, GT-2160, and more (though there are still plenty of options to choose from), the Japanese footwear label has been hard at work developing new silhouettes that fit this bill. In Spring 2025, the Asics Gel-Sekiran entered the market, and it's since become a low-key hit thanks to its 2000s and early 2010s design influences, cheap retail price, and comfort-focused tooling. Now, JD Sports is getting an exclusive colorway of the sneaker.
Taking inspiration from three different archival Asics models, the Gel-Nimbus 13, Gel-Cumulus 12, and Gel-Cumulus 17, JD’s exclusive Gel-Sekiran is coated in a vibrant green color on its breathable mesh base. Darker teal green shades contrast with this highlighter green shade on the lace set, sockliner, and the sweeping layered synthetic reinforcements on the collar and forefoot.

Metallic silver leather appears on the mudguard, vamp, heel overlay, and on the midfoot Asics tiger stripes. Black linear patterns line the edge of the heel overlay, mudguard, and Asics tiger stripes, helping create extra depth to the paneling. Down below sits a Gel-cushioned foam midsole, directly ripped from the Gel-Cumulus 17, in a combination of green and metallic silver.
The JD Sports-exclusive Asics Gel-Sekiran will release August 8, 2025, through JD Sports online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
