There’s so much ice cream out there these days. From the freezer aisle classics and big chain shops to boutique quarts, new takes on soft serve, and local legends (shoutout Cuzzy’s in South Philly), there are more options than ever. No matter where you get your favorite frozen treat, the test of a good ice cream maker is their vanilla.
French Vanilla in a Waffle Cone
Continuing VANDYTHEPINK’s obsession with culinary-themed sneaker collabs, the Virginia-based brand is adding to its Asics partnership with a pair of Gel-Kayano 12.1 in classic vanilla. After turning Pumas, Wallabees, and Salomons into burgers, the Asics Banana Split pack gets a vanilla-bean scoop on top.
Featuring silver and some chocolate, butterscotch, mint, and strawberry accents, the main structure of the shoe is an off-white shade of French vanilla. The wide triangular mesh looks a bit like the print on a waffle cone, with silver jutting between every panel, mint green and berry pink splashes across the upper, green and yellow in the midsole cushioning, and brown and pink creating a Neopolitain outsole.
