Unfortunately for the Dallas Mavericks, Kyrie Irving suffered a season-ending injury when he tore his ACL on March 3. Even though the NBA superstar is on the road to recovery, his signature sneaker line with ANTA continues forward, launching new colorways of his second main model, the ANTA Kai 2. Following up on the Mavericks-inspired rendition and the Mother's Day colorway, Kyrie and ANTA pay homage to the electric sportswear style of the ‘90s for the latest colorway.
Bold colors and a split design define this new ANTA Kai 2, starting with a teal hue on the sneaker's lateral side. This canvas mesh transitions into a darker hue as you move over to the medial side, all contrasted by zig-zag neon gradient embroidery that wraps around the entire upper, featured on the toebox and midfoot panel. Back on the heel, more custom embroidery in a '90s color palette draws inspiration from ethnic textile motifs popular in fashion from this era. Underfoot sits a black rubber midsole with Kyrie branding on the heel and hits of yellow and red moving up from the white rubber outsole.

“This colorway isn’t just inspired by the 90s—it moves like the 90s,” said Maurice Robertson, GM of ANTA North America. “It’s fast, it’s loud, and it’s rooted in where Kyrie came from. Every element was chosen to spark emotion and performance.”
The ANTA Kai 2 Retro 90 will release on May 17, 2025, through ANTA and select retailers, including Sneaker Politics, Extra Butter, Nice Kicks, Social Status, Feature, Livestock, Footpatrol, Shoe Palace, Hibbett, and SCHEELS. Retail is $125 in men's sizing.
