Kyrie Irving has spent the early part of the season on the bench recovering from a torn ACL, with a plan to get back to the Mavericks lineup in late January. Irving has plenty to stay busy with, though, and the latest colorway of his ANTA Kai 2 is a love letter to his daughter, Azurie.
Releasing a day before her 10th birthday, the ANTA Kai 2 Azurie starts with a pink upper detailed with blue accents on the side panels and a metallic blue and pink strips on the zig-zag lace panel. Pink and blue fuzzy laces bring a cotton candy vibe to the shoe, with Azurie’s birthday, 11/23, added to the heel panel, embroidered in blue, split between an embroidered tree logo graphic. The birthday gift for his daughter is a physical representation of Irving’s bond with Azurie, adding a cream-colored traction outsole as a show of his fatherly protection and, of course, keeping the on-court performance. Gold lace locks finish the bright birthday colorway.
Even with this thematic display, the Kai 2 is built for performance. ANTA packs the sneaker with Full-palm Nitrogen foam for a cushioned and responsive on-court feel. The upper is reinforced with an Arrow TPU Frame alongside the durable materials used for the base layer.
