It seems like yesterday, but 2015 is officially a decade behind us. This period in the sneaker world saw the meteoric rise of adidas with its Boost cushioning technology and a new partnership with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West that eventually morphed into one of the most significant and successful sneaker lines in the footwear industry. Ye was instrumental in helping bring adidas’ new Ultraboost sneaker to the forefront of fashion and street culture, often spotted wearing the now-iconic OG colorway and the Triple White rendition. Now, ten years after the original release of this OG colorway, adidas is bringing it back.
A brief history lesson on the sneaker itself: it was originally released in February 2015 but was unsuccessful at first. After Ye wore the pair at the Billboard Music Awards and was photographed by paparazzi wearing the sneaker out and about, “hypebeasts” and sneakerheads began to scoop up the pair and future colorways. The model also became an alternative to those who couldn’t secure a pair of adidas Yeezy Boost 350s as they would sell out and go for major premiums on the aftermarket. The sneaker had a retro release in December 2018 and sold out across the board.
