City-specific celebrations have been a standard part of sneaker culture for decades, but adidas has been on a run as of late. The Superstar silhouette has found new homes across America, taking on special colorways honoring Houston, Atlanta, NYC, and now Chicago.
Revealed here by design director at DTLR June Sanders, the pair comes with multiple references to the city through its color palette and added design details. We see a black tumbled leather for its base that matches the tongue and Three Stripes. Lining the edge of the iconic adidas logo on the midfoot are yellow, red, and green serrated panels, perhaps references to the city's Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train lines.
