The Three Stripes is ever present on the soccer field, but adidas might have even more influence with fans. The brand that defined British terrace culture has always had a reciprocal relationship with the hooligans that made their lifestyle models famous, putting out team-specific shoes, and building new models with British soccer supporters in mind.
One of those models is the SPZL Roelee, a lifestyle design from Spezial program founder Gary Aspen that takes inspiration from the Whalley SPZL and its archival predecessor, the All Round. The latest SPZL Roelee combines three shades of grey suede and leather for a classy, clean version of the terrace-friendly silhouette. The extended t-toe panel that wraps around the base of the entire shoe and the lace protection panel are a dark grey suede, with lighter steel suede covering the rest of the upper, and crisp grey leather finishing the triple grey colorway on the tongue and sock liner. The Three Stripes on the side and tongue logo are both white, the Spezial logo gets stamped on the heel in gold, and a textured gum sole underneath rounds it all out.
In addition to cleats in collaboration with BAPE, and plenty more planned for the 2026 World Cup, adidas has been showing out for soccer fans across the globe this year, dropping packs of Gazelles and Sambas in team colorways and pushing the Spezial program with new models and colorways galore. We’ve already seen the SPZL Roelee in dark suede earlier this year, and we’ll be disappointed if we don’t see more colorways soon.
The adidas SPZL Roelee F.C. Grey already dropped at select boutique retailers, but is expected to be released in a wider drop later this month. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
