Even though the Olympics in Los Angeles are still a while away (they kick off in July 2028, by the way), adidas clearly couldn’t contain its excitement. With three years to go, the Herzogenaurach-based sportswear giant has already unveiled the adidas LA Trainer OG Made in USA – and honestly, it couldn’t be more fitting.
If you didn’t already know, the LA Trainer first debuted back in 1984 during that year’s Los Angeles Summer Games. While the silhouette has resurfaced a handful of times over the past four decades, this latest retro re-release feels especially timely. Built on a tightly knit Dark Marine mesh base, the sneaker is overlaid with Preloved Violet suede, while shiny Silver Metallic accents highlight the Three Stripes and heel badge for a proper throwback finish.

Of course, the defining detail of this archival model is still present: the three removable shock-absorbing rods embedded in the midsole. Designed so runners could fine-tune cushioning depending on weight and running surface, it might seem gimmicky today, but in the ’80s it was nothing short of revolutionary. For this edition, the rods are painted red, white, and blue as a nod to its American-made heritage. Everything then arrives packaged in a special edition box created exclusively for this release, further underlining its collector appeal.
The adidas LA Trainer OG Made in USA will release September 1, 2025, via adidas and select global retailers both online and in-store. The pair will be offered in men’s sizing for $250.
