With over 75 years under its belt, the vault at adidas runs deep. This has allowed the German sportswear label to delve into different eras of its history and revive these styles, as seen with the ‘70s and ‘60s runners and terrace sneakers making comebacks in the modern day. Next for this revival is the adidas Italia, with the pair receiving a special Made in Italy makeover.
While the adidas Italia has returned in a few GR colorways, these pairs are manufactured in Asia, differentiating those from this special 60s-inspired colorway. The sneaker itself was initially manufactured in Rome in 1959, and it was designed as a multi-sport shoe for athletes to wear during the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Specs from the original 1959 sneaker version are recreated here, including the X overlay on the heel, the leather heel tab extending from the sockliner, and the rubberized toecap.

The color palette here also harkens back to the ‘60s as the premium leather upper is doused primarily in white with green accents on the Three Stripes, eyestays, toe overlay, and the aforementioned X leather panel on the heel. A perforated insole, suede lining, white and green thin rubber, foam midsole, and outsole complete the look.
The adidas Italia 60s Made in Italy will release on June 17, 2025, through adidas Confirmed and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $400.
