First seen last century, adidas is reissuing the Intimidation Low and bringing back one of the original colorways, Wonder Aluminium Yellow, blending retro charm with modern updates. Also expected to be released alongside a Core White Team Royal Blue iteration, this completes the revival for the shoe after New Jersey-based Packer dropped their collaborative take last December. Launched in 1999 as a signature shoe of former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN host Keyshawn Johnson, the distinct aesthetic of the sneaker is iconic to those of a specific era.
This adidas Intimidation Low has an upper base crafted with wonder aluminum close-knit mesh, delivering a lightweight yet durable feel. It is complemented by a more muted spacer mesh on the tongue and crisp white mesh for the lining, offering a clean, balanced look. Striking contrasts are introduced through the yellow Three Stripes branding, which stands out vibrantly against the neutral base.
A flowing molded RPU cage adds structural integrity, seamlessly wrapping around the midfoot. This detail reinforces the sneaker and enhances its visual appeal with dynamic contours. It is coupled with black rubber accents extending to the shoe's front and forms the toe box, offering durability and protection in key areas.
A subtle yet bold touch comes from a purple torsion support plate visible on the medial side. This design element ensures stability while nodding to Adidas' innovative heritage. The flash of color further subtly breaks up the neutral look.
Underfoot, the Intimidation Low employs the FYW-style adiPrene midsole, renowned for its cushioning and energy return. This midsole design enhances comfort, making the sneaker suitable for athletic performance and casual wear. A rubber outsole completes the shoe, providing exceptional traction on various surfaces.
The adidas Intimidation Low Wonder Aluminum Yellow is set to release on January 9, 2025, via adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is $130.
