Paying homage to the Southern California home of the late Kobe Bryant, a pair of adidas Crazy 8 Low Newport Beach have surfaced, set to release in Spring 2025. The laidback vibe is apparent in the aesthetic as this pair combines an intricate mix of materials daubed in a tonal palette that creates a bold, textured look.
The adidas Crazy 8 has been enjoying an uplifting revival in its original mid-cut form and low-top, which was introduced in 2024. This was cemented when New York collective Hoop York City presented a collaborative take on the Crazy 8 Low, followed by a series of HBCU-themed pairs.

The adidas Crazy 8 Low Newport Beach features a rich layering of fluffy suede, breathable meshes, and synthetic leather, all seamlessly interwoven to create a visually dynamic upper. Hues of halo ivory and magic beige seamlessly blend across the shoe, presenting a neutral tone with shades resembling sandy shores and sunset hues integrated into the layers of the shoe. Such a multi-textured design enhances its aesthetics and contributes to a comfortable fit, each element adding depth and character to the design while providing a luxurious feel while being worn.
The distinctive Feet You Wear (FYW) midsole, which remains true to the shoe's basketball roots, is famous for its ergonomic design and flows jaggedly into the upper, creating a unique look. Freddy, the FYW mascot, is embroidered on the tongue, crafted from two mesh styles, and finished with a woven EQT branded tag. More EQT branding is seen on the lower heel at the back and the upper toe area at the front. A Torsion System is implemented into the sole unit for extra comfort and stability, with a non-marking rubber outsole that features shades of warm sandstone.
The adidas Crazy 8 Low Newport Beach is set to release on February 1, 2025, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, retail is $120.
