Not to sound too much like an old head, but kids these days will never know how unstoppable Derrick Rose was during his prime. The Chicago Bulls’ point guard’s mix of speed, handle, hops, and strength allowed him to cut past defenders to the hoop like a hot knife through butter. A perennial All-Star of the mid-2010s, Rose was one of adidas’ premier signature stars of the time, and his first shoe, the Adizero Rose 1, is still a classic of the era.
The adidas Adizero Rose 1 Black Red is the OG colorway of Rose’s first signature silhouette, bringing together a Bulls blend to match his jersey. The black upper starts with shiny patent leather covering the entire toebox before shifting to a mix of perforated paneling on the lateral side and mesh on the medial side panels, with even more black patent leather on the cut out ankle collar.
Bulls' red is added as a stripe of color moving from the vamp around the bottom of the side panels and back up to the top of the heel. The sockliner is also red, and hits of white are added to the Three Stripes branding on the heel and front half of the outsole. D Rose had 11 numbered adidas signature sneakers plus plenty of knockdowns and discount models, and has continued his partnership with the brand into the recent Fear of God Athletics collab, but to this day, nothing from the adidas Rose line has outshined this OG silhouette. The last time adidas dropped this specific colorway was in 2020.
The adidas Adizero Rose 1 Black Red will be released January 17, 2026 through Foot Locker as a limited, in-store exclusive drop. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130. For all the latest adidas D Rose news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
