Anthony Edwards has been basking in the glory of his signature sneaker with adidas, the adidas AE 1, as sneakerheads and sneaker media outlets have it pegged as one of, if not the best, sneaker of 2024. While we will have to wait a bit before the sophomore release from Ant-Man’s line, The Three Stripes has prepped plenty of low-top AE 1s, including the PE to Retail, Year of the Snake, and Best of Adi 2.0. A new Metallic Grey colorway is added to 2025’s AE 1 Low releases.
Unlike many other adidas AE 1 releases and colorways, this pair utilizes a non-black Primeblue knit base, joining pairs like the aforementioned PE to Retail, the McDonald’s All-American, Team USA, and the Multi-Color. The knit here has a tonal grey finish, shaded slightly differently than the neoprene tongue, lace set, and sockliner. Along the midfoot, the honeycomb generative support wing has a darker grey finish that matches the faux carbon fiber on the heel tab.
Contrasting the grey tonal hits are the branding details found on the tongue and heel, the latter featuring adidas’ Three Stripes logo and the former featuring Anthony Edwards’ logo. Inside, the silhouette changes compared to the regular mid-cut AE 1, replacing the Jet Boost cushioning with Light Boost pucks near the heel and forefoot and adding Lightstrike cushioning throughout. Finishing the design is the grippy rubber outsole in a tonal grey finish.
The adidas AE 1 Low Metallic Grey will release on May 11, 2025, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s and GS sizing, the retail price is set at $110 and $90, respectively.
