Anthony Edwards' star power knows no bounds. The 23-year-old NBA superstar is one of the biggest names in the sport and has become one of the hottest signature athletes on the planet. His adidas AE 1 even topped many lists for sneaker of the year in 2024. While we've been getting looks at the follow-up, the adidas AE 2, in colorways like the All-Star, Lucid Pink, and Core Black Lime Burst, Sole Retriever can confirm that in Summer 2026, the AE 1 Low is getting turned into a cleat for the gridiron.
The AE 1 has crossed boundaries into other sports, as seen in the MLB when Bailey Ober, a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, rocked a custom cleated pair of the Ascent colorway. More recently, he wore a custom of the Best of Adi 2.0 colorway. In the NFL, Jordan Addison, wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, wore two custom cleats inspired by Edwards’ AE 1. This new official cleat marks the first time adidas has converted the performance basketball model for use on the football field.

adidas has maintained the upper of the AE 1 Low for this football cleat, keeping the generative support wing, which features a honeycomb TPU construction reinforcing the mesh base, while the fang toe-cap and black mesh tongue and eyestays remain. Logos for Edwards and adidas are rendered in lime green.
At the same time, the aforementioned support wing comes in white, essentially making this a low-top version of the original mid-cut adidas AE 1 Best of Adi. Down below, the tooling is redone for the football field as the outsole features adidas' Freak Plate 20 but retains Boost cushioning for a comfortable underfoot experience.
The adidas AE 1 Low Football Cleat Best of Adi will release in June 2026 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
