With the 2025 WNBA regular season wrapped up, it’s time for the league to dish out some hardware. There’s a big debate on who will take home the MVP award as there’s a three-way race between reigning MVP A’ja Wilson, Naphessa Collier, and Alyssa Thomas, but the Rookie of the Year was quite clear: Paige Bueckers.
The Dallas Wings selected her first overall after her NCAA championship win with the UConn Huskies, and she entered the league with high expectations. Luckily, Bueckers met and exceeded these expectations, receiving 70 out of 72 first-place votes for the ROTY award. She averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals, leading all WNBA rookies in total points (692), points per game, total assists (194), and assists per game. Paige even set a single-game rookie record when she dropped 44 points against the Los Angeles Sparks in August. However, her Dallas Wings finished the season 10-30, missing the playoffs.
While we won’t see Paige in the postseason, Nike is looking to celebrate her historic rookie campaign and the bright future ahead of her with a special T-shirt. The graphic tee features Paige front and center holding a WNBA game ball alongside “ROTY” text above her head. The shirt will release on Nike's website on September 19th.
Paige first signed an NIL deal with Nike in September 2023, having since become a key part of the brand’s presence in women’s basketball. She made history as the first college athlete to have their player-exclusive Nike sneaker release with the Nike GT Hustle 3 colorway hitting shelves at the end of 2024. The Swoosh also used Bueckers to debut the next entry in the Nike GT Cut series when she wore the GT Cut 4 during the WNBA All-Star festivities in July.
