New Chanel-Inspired Vans Old Skool Souvenir Bag Colorways are On the Way

Vans isn’t asking for permission. The skate shoe originators have rekindled their OTW (Off The Wall) label for boutique releases, and in addition to jewelry-studded pearlized pack pairs, the brand is making waves with its run of handbag-inspired colorways that take clear inspiration from Chanel’s long history of luxury purses. Instead of an on-the-books collab, though, Vans is taking a DIY approach to the collection.

The best of the Chanel rips is the Vans Old Skool 36 Souvenir, a take on the Chanel On the Pavements Messenger Bag, mixing a weathered tie-dyed canvas upper with multi-color frayed thread on the stripe logo, button accessories, and added stitching splayed across the side panels. In a new Instagram post from Vans collaborator Imran Potato, the designer shows off three new colorways from the Souvenir pack, one in light pink, another in dark blue, and finally the cream colorway Sole Retriever previously reported on.

All three pairs feature a mix of Vans buttons pinned to the side panels, including a multi-colored checkerboard, a Yin-Yang skate remix, a smiley face, and more. On the pink pair, grey leather accents are added to the toe, lace, and heel panels, and on the blue pair, the accent colors switch to soft navy leather.

Upcoming Vans Old Skool Souvenir Releases

Outside of the Oatmeal colorway, which is expected to hit shelves in July, the two new colorways of the Vans Premium Old Skool 36 Souvenir don’t have a release date just yet, but with Imran opening seeding pairs already, expect to hear more about the new additions to the collection soon.
