Making a brand-new sneaker takes a long time, trial and error, and a ton of hard work. Most shoes go from concept to consumers over the course of a couple of years, and in that time, there are dozens and dozens of different prototypes and samples that don’t make the cut. Sometimes, we’re fortunate enough to get a glimpse into the workshop and see what designers cooked up, and many times people prefer the sample to the retail version. That’s probably not the case here with a prototype high-top version of Travis Scott’s Jordan Jumpman Jack.
In the lead-up to the release of the first Jumpman Jack colorway in April 2024, Scott was spotted in different versions of the sneaker. The initial look came at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, and that iteration of the Jumpman Jack was very different from what hit shelves around a year later. Those who were able to secure a spot in Travis’ pop-up shop at ComplexCon in Las Vegas last year were able to get looks at different samples and prototypes of the Jumpman Jack, but this pair pictured was not present.

The Dark Mocha colorway, which launched back in November around ComplexCon, is applied to this high-cut version of the Jumpman Jack. It almost has an Air Jordan 15 or 16 look to it with its angular panels on the collar, with the upper composed mostly of dark mocha-shaded suede. Scott’s signature reverse Swoosh cuts across the midfoot in black tumbled leather, matching the canvas base, sock-like collar, and the lace set. Jumpman branding is reserved for the heel tab, while La Flame’s Cactus Jack frowny face is applied on the tongue tag. Down below sits a split midsole, with the front half coming in black with exposed stitching and the rear in mocha.
Luckily for us, Jordan Brand, Travis, and the design team stuck with the version that ended up at retail, and this pair will remain an unreleased sample. While we’re waiting for Chase B’s Jumpman Jack in Holiday 2025 and the Celtics-shaded pair in Spring 2026, you can download the Sole Retriever mobile app for real-time updates on all things Travis.
