New Balance has a few global home bases. The brand was born in Boston, of course, and down the East Coast, Philly and Baltimore have made a name for themselves as hubs of New Balance obsession, and then there’s the UK. With New Balance’s Made in UK program based out of Flimby and the brand’s long ties to soccer, New Balance has a strong foothold in terrace culture. Of course, an ongoing partnership with Stone Island doesn't hurt.
World Cup Ready
The Stone Island x New Balance 1890 Pack is the partnership’s latest sneaker collab, joining a larger pack of World Cup-ready clothing and soccer cleats dropping early next month as the tournament arrives in Canada, Mexico, and the US. We got a quick preview of the collection earlier this week, but when it rains, it pours, and we’ve now got an official look from the brands.
Arriving in two colorways, deep forest green and rich tan brown, the Stone Island x New Balance 1890 features a ripstop mesh base with synthetic overlays in wavy teardrop shapes across the front half of the upper, and thick, hairy suede on the heel support paneling. To make the collab clear, a Stone Island compass badge pops from the top of the tongue.
