Stone Island has long been a staple everywhere from British terrace culture to New York high fashion, but the brand’s aesthetic has always been about utilitarian staples and monochrome colorblocking inspired by old-school military uniforms. The latest sneaker in Stone Island’s storied partnership with New Balance, a grey 574, looks like it just got back from war.
Coated in layers of monochrome suede, the premium material looks almost like felt, giving it a worn-in, almost splotchy appearance. Three different renditions of the 574 are launching: Dark Brown, Dark Grey, and Navy Blue. The Stone Island Ghost collection is a seasonal drop in monotone earth tones that has been featured in past New Balance collaborations, including a three-pack of suede 991v2s. Stone Island also dropped a pack of 574 Legacy colorways last year in light and dark green.
