In late 2021 we were blessed with information that adidas had linked up with one of the most popular cartoons of all-time, the Comedy Central developed show, South Park. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the series debuted in 1997 and still runs today. The four pillars of the show Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Kenny McCormick and Eric Cartman will all have their own themed sneaker. In addition, two fictional characters from the series have now been officially unveiled as well.
Cue in Professor Chaos and AWESOM-O! Played by Butters and Eric Cartman respectively, the two get immortalized by the Brand with the Three Stripes via a limited edition adidas NMD R1 V2 and adidas Forum Low. The adidas NMD R1 V2 “Professor Chaos” edition draws inspiration from Butters' supervillain alter ego. It features a teal-based Primeknit upper with metallic silver “foil” accents and custom branding on the back heel pull tab and tongue tag. The adidas Forum Low “AWESOM-O” features a cardboard box-like brown-based upper with black accents, multi-color stripes above the toe box and AWESOM-O detailing on the strap and tongue.
The South Park x adidas Collection which includes the NMD R1 V2 “Professor Chaos” and the Forum Low “Awesom-O” is set to be released in 2022. It will launch at adidas as well as select retailers in-store and online. They will be available in men’s sizes with the NMD R1 V2 set at $160 and the Forum Low at $110. UPDATE 03/16/22: The South Park x adidas NMD R1 V2 Professor Chaos and Forum Low Awesom-O are set to release at select retailers such as Foot Locker on March 21st, 2022.
