sacai has been a common part of Nike for the last three years. Plenty of models have been given the sacai twist, including an upcoming Cortez in the fall. Luckily we don't have to wait long to try and secure another sacai x Nike collab with the long awaited Vaporwaffle in “Sail” and “Off-Noir” on the way.
Originally teased alongside the “Dark Iris” and “Sesame” colorways last spring, the upcoming “Gum Pack” comes in a similar construction as the previously released pairs. Combining both the modern Nike Vaporfly and Nike Pegasus from 1983, the look is boundary pushing. A canvas base replaces the mesh seen on past releases, with premium suede overlays working throughout the upper. Double lacing system and double tongue continue the sacai design language of combining past and present.
Along the mid foot, double Nike Swoosh is present with the accenting swoosh painted underneath the leather branding. Located on the heel tab, Nike and sacai logos are combined and stamped on. Down below, the midsole from the Vaporfly and Pegasus are stacked atop one another with foam protruding on the heel separating the two soles. Rounding out the wild design, a reworked Nike Waffle rubber outsole comes dressed in gum on both colorways.
The sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle “Sail” and “Off-Noir” are set to release on February 2nd, 2022 overseas at select Nike Sportswear retailers with a US release to follow. Coming in extended men’s sizing, retail is set at $180.
