All’s fair in love and basketball…right?

The Y2K basketball romance Love & Basketball is a classic of the era, bringing together plenty of sappy love story with just enough basketball to make a perfect date movie in an era when movie theaters were still a Friday night destination. A staple in the basketball cinema canon, Love & Basketball is a favorite of Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, and serves as inspiration for the latest colorway of the Puma Hali 1.

Haliburton’s Puma Hali 1 Love & Basketball PE adds the high school jersey numbers, 22 and 32, from the movie’s starring couple, Quincy McCall, played by Omar Epps, and Monica Wright, played by Sanaa Lathan, on the tongue. The white shoe adds hits of blue and yellow on the toe, heel, and jersey numbers on the toe to represent Crenshaw High School, the real-life school used as a setting in the film, and conveniently, Haliburton’s Indiana Pacers.

Haliburton is still sidelined as he recovers from a major Achilles injury that will keep him out for most, if not the entire season. Still, his first Puma signature shoe is rolling out as planned, with a debut blue colorway followed by a light pink Hibiscus colorway, and a grey pair kicking off the Salehe Bembury-designed silhouette.

So far, there is no info about a public release of the Puma Hali 1 Love & Basketball, so as best we can tell, it’s a PE. To be fair, Haliburton has had a lot of time on the couch to watch movies lately. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay up on all the latest NBA signature PEs.
