Puma's innovative approach to sneaker design has consistently set trends and pushed the boundaries of street-style aesthetics. The brand's collaboration with LA-based streetwear label Pleasures is a testament to this ongoing evolution, especially after their initial partnership last summer with the Puma Velophasis in a striking pink hue. Following the success of this collaboration, which also included two additional colorways of the Velophasis and a rendition of the Puma Suede XL, Puma has once again joined forces with Pleasures. This time, the spotlight is on Puma's latest silhouette, the Spirex, a sneaker that marries technical innovation with street-style sensibilities, drawing inspiration from Puma's rich running heritage.
The Spirex, much like its predecessor, the Velophasis, is a nod to the Y2K-era's fascination with technical and futuristic designs. It features an asymmetrical upper with diverse paneling on each side, supported by a structural wireframe that enhances the sneaker's stability and aesthetic appeal. Pleasures has added its unique touch to the Spirex, incorporating mesh materials on the toe and midfoot, alongside hairy suede on the toe box overlays, distinguishing it from its launch colorways.
The collaboration introduces two color schemes: Glacial Grey and Black, each embellished with Pleasures' distinctive branding near the collar, and a co-branded Puma and Pleasures logo on the insole, signaling the fusion of both brands' design philosophies. Beneath the intricate upper lies a foam midsole, color-matched to each sneaker, ensuring a seamless aesthetic flow. The outsole is crafted from durable rubber, featuring a meticulously designed lug pattern that complements the sneaker's overall look and provides superior traction and support.
The Pleasures x Puma Spirex Pack will release on March 3, 2024, through select retailers online and in-store, with a launch via Puma and Pleasures currently yet to be announced. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
