For years, Pleasures, an LA-based fashion brand known for its distinctive aesthetic, has collaborated with Puma to create unique footwear designs. Their partnership has already resulted in noteworthy releases like the chunky, Y2K-inspired Puma Velophasis. The trend continues as the duo is set to launch the Puma Suede XL in January 2024. This collaboration is part of a broader movement within the sneaker industry where brands like adidas and Puma are revisiting classic designs with enlarged variants to align with the Y2K fashion resurgence. The Puma Suede XL, a reimagined version of the iconic Puma Suede, exemplifies this trend by magnifying details to create a modern twist on a classic silhouette.
The Pleasures x Puma Suede XL retains a minimalist approach while adding a bold edge to the design. The sneaker features a black suede upper, offering a sleek and versatile base. This base is contrasted with cream accents on the Formstrip, tongue tag, and sockliner, creating a visually striking effect. The collaboration's attention to detail is evident in the co-branding from Pleasures and Puma, which is tastefully placed on the tongue tag and insole. Additionally, the heel is adorned with Puma's iconic cat logo. The look is completed with a chunky cream-colored midsole and matching outsole, enhancing the sneaker's retro appeal while offering contemporary style and comfort.
The Pleasures x Puma Suede XL has already seen a staggered release via EU retailers, with Pleasures hosting a drop on January 4, 2024. Puma and select retailers will launch the pair on January 6 globally. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
