Hippies & Cowboys: No-Comply’s Latest New Balance Collab Celebrates Austin’s Outlaw Country Style

The best way to keep Austin, Texas, weird and out of the hands of tech bros? Hippies and cowboys. While Texas’s cultural hub undergoes a Silicon Valley-style glow-up, the longtime residents are trying their best to keep the old vibes alive, starting with the city’s favorite skate shop, No-Comply.

For its latest collab with New Balance Numeric, No-Comply is celebrating the strange mix of cultures that makes Austin so unique. Taking on the New Balance Numeric 480 skate shoe, the colorway mixes black and tan suede with velvet, denim, tie-dye, and paisley print accents that exemplify an old Willy Nelson quote about the city. Adding a spot for your guitar picks or dime bags, the colorway is gig-ready with a velvet-lined stash pocket behind the tongue.

"When I left Nashville, I went to Texas because that's where I came from, and because I was playing in Texas a lot in different places,” the Red Headed Stranger said. “And I saw hippies and rednecks drinking beer together and smoking dope together and having a good time together, and I knew it was possible to get all groups of people together - long hair, short hair, no hair - and music would bring them together."

The No-Comply x New Balance Numeric 480 Hippies & Cowboys will be released at No-Comply Austin on June 13, 2026 in-store, alongside a New Balance Numeric skate team demo and autograph signing at the shop.
