Fans of John McEnroe’s signature Nike sneaker, the Nike Mac Attack, have been begging for a retro for years. Since its initial release of the Nike sneakers in the 1980s, we have yet to see the model return. However, with Travis Scott and LeBron James wearing OG versions of the sneaker in recent years, it was only a matter of time before we received a proper retro. Following images of Social Status’ collection of colorways, Travis Scott’s take on the model, and the OG colorway, Nike looks to begin the revival of the Mac Attack with a “Red Crush” colorway.
Across the leather and mesh construction, we see a simple two-tone white and red color scheme with most of the model dressed in white. This lands on the leather overlays around the toebox, eyelet, and portions of the heel and on the mesh toe and midfoot. Vibrant red accents hit the leather Swoosh, collar, and heel overlay. Creamy hues take over the tongue with this shade accented by red Nike branding on the grey and white checkerboard-laden tongue tag. In a nod to the OG, the interior features black text denoting the sneaker's style code and the size of the shoe itself. Rounding out the look is the white rubber midsole and red rubber outsole.
The Nike Attack QS SP Red Crush will release on July 20, 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
