Kobe Bryant’s signature sneaker line with Nike has still maintained its relevance even a decade removed from lacing up his kicks for the Los Angeles Lakers. That’s all thanks to his Protro (performance retro) ethos that has retooled and refitted models from the past with modern technology, all while maintaining the visual look of the OGs. Bryant’s ethos has even carried over to Nike’s lifestyle line, as a slew of Air Force 1 Lows and Dunks have emerged with Kobe branding and upgraded cushioning. Following a first look at another Lenticular AF1 Protro, we have retailer images of the new pair.
Nike Kobe Air Force 1 Low Protro Lenticular Snakeskin Details
Continuing the lenticular snakeskin print seen on one of the first Kobe Protro AF1s, this pair opts for a darker grey with black accents throughout. The entire upper is cast in a dark snakeskin print that shifts between solid black and snakeskin based on the angle of the light hitting the shoe. A pop of contrast comes around the midfoot Swoosh, which is lined in a volt green hue, while the Kobe sheath on the heel tab and the Nike Air Force 1 branding on the tongue tag feature a purple hue.

From the outside, things look (almost) identical to a standard AF1, except for the added Kobe branding. But inside, Bruce Kilgore’s 1982 basketball shoes get an upgrade. Instead of the solid rubber/PU midsole and air-sole board in a traditional AF1, Kobe’s Protro upgrade adds a drop-in ReactX foam midsole for modern-day comfort. There’s also a redesign of the midsole, which now features Kobe Bryant’s signature where you’d normally find “AIR” text, and on the outsole, which replaces the stars on the toe with Kobe sheath logos.
