If college basketball teams were judged on the quality of their sneaker rotation instead of their player roster, Duke would be a shoo-in for the men’s and women’s national championships. After breaking out PE pairs of almost every Nike basketball signature sneaker for the first half of the NCAA season, the women’s squad is getting the sneaker spotlight once again, debuting a pair of half-and-half split pink Kay Yow Kobe 6 Protros.

The Nike Kobe 6 Protro Kay Yow is the latest partnership between Nike and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a nonprofit founded by Hall of Fame former North Carolina State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow. Yow’s relentless fight against cancer has been an inspiration for decades, and Nike has supported her posthumous cause through a long-running series of pink sneakers designed with profits benefitting the foundation. Previously, we saw Kay Yow work on the Nike Kobe 9 EM for select NCAA programs, including Duke.

This time around, the Nike Kobe 6 Protro Kay Yow is a two-tone pink mix, splitting the shoe right down the middle with hot pink on the lateral side and a light, icy pale pink on the medial side. The side panel Swooshes, tongue, laces, heel stabilizer, and outsole are all black, with a Kobe sheath tongue logo split down the middle between the two pink colors to match the upper.

The Nike Kobe 6 Protro Kay Yow has only been seen from the Duke Women’s Basketball Team so far. Expect more NCAA programs to lace up the colorway during the coming months in the lead-up to March Madness. To keep up with all the latest Nike Kobe news, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
