The NBA Draft is a confounding experience, and sometimes, you just can’t predict what a player will end up being. For every successful sure thing like LeBron James and Victor Wembanyama, there are just as many Top 3 busts and third-round success stories. Don’t get us started on Steph Curry. Coming out of high school into the league, Kobe Bryant was a mid-first round pick, going 13th to the Charlotte Hornets before an immediate trade sent him to LA for the rest of his Hall of Fame career.
Initially reported by Sneaker News, the Nike Kobe 4 Protro Draft Day Pack celebrates Kobe’s 1996 Draft night, adding a pair of Kobe’s 4th shoe for every team that skipped on the Black Mamba that night, and an extra pair for the Hornets, who made the right pick but the wrong trade. On every pair of the pack, Nike adds a white base with team colors on the branding and additional team shades hidden under the white upper.
So far, we’ve only seen the Raptors pair, with the aforementioned white upper, red accents on the Swoosh and sheath tongue logo, and Raptors purple on the insoles. On the left insole of each pair, a number designates the team’s 1996 Draft position, with “1996 Draft” added behind the left tongue and “13: K. Bryant” added behind the right tongue. In addition to the Raptors, pairs will be dropping in team colorways for the 76ers, Grizzlies, Bucks, Timberwolves, Celtics, Clippers, Nets, Mavericks, Pacers, Warriors, Cavs, and Hornets.
