Nike Basketball’s GT (Greater Than) line has been one of Beaverton’s most successful catalogs in recent memory. Beloved by hoopers from the YMCA to the NBA, the GT Cut 1 was such a success that it had to be brought back for a retro run just a handful of years after its OG release. Last year, Nike introduced the GT Cut 4 and the GT Future to expand the line into more lifestyle-friendly looks, and now, Nike is returning to the court with three new GT silhouettes.
Hops, Speed, or Strength?
The Nike GT Flight, GT Force, and GT Uptempo are the latest additions to the Greater Than lineup, and after previews from young stars Dylan Harper, AJ Dybantsa, and Tyran Stokes, the new collection is ready for ballers of every style. Just like the names suggest, the Flight, debuted by Dybantsa, is made for high flyers; the Uptempo, debuted by Harper, is made for speed; and the Force, debuted by Stokes, is made for bully ball.

The Flight features an armored upper like a medieval knight’s favorite kicks; the Force takes its name and shape from the Air Force 1, with a tough toebox and a flatter midsole. The Uptempo fits closer to the classic GT Cut 1 look, bringing a one-piece upper with a streamlined shape and a low-profile cut.
“Basketball is the soul of Nike,” says Ross Klein, VP/Creative Director, Nike Basketball. “It’s always pushed us to think differently, experiment and imagine what’s possible. This new foundation lets us bring the best of Nike Basketball performance and design to athletes in a way that’s more intuitive, more personal and built to evolve with the game.”

These new models also harken back to Nike Basketball’s previous eras when superstars were rocking Air Force 1s, Zoom Flights, and Air More Uptempos on the court. But they also introduce a new system to categorize signature sneakers, with Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 4 and LeBron James’ Nike LeBron 24 sitting under the Flight umbrella. A’ja Wilson’s Nike A’Two and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Nike Freak 8 come as part of the Force series, while Caitlin Clark’s Nike Caitlin 1, Sabrina Ionescu’s Nike Sabrina 4, Devin Booker’s Nike Book 2, and Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 19 are part of the Uptempo series.
