Nike Basketball has been looking into the future for some time, switching its design language on inline and signature sneakers to reflect a forward-looking approach that once defined the performance hoops side of The Swoosh. We got this most overtly with the GT Future, but other models like the GT Cut and the Ja 4 look like something brought back to our time from a decade ahead. But sometimes keeping things classic can work, and that’s exactly what Nike is doing with the latest performance basketball model, the Nike GT Force.
Nike GT Force Details
Debuted by Kansas Jayhawks star Tyran Stokes, the Nike GT Force looks back to the time when the Air Force 1 was the pinnacle of basketball footwear, combining the Greater Than series’ design ethos with the aesthetic of Bruce Kilgore’s hit silhouette. Two versions have been created: one in a high-cut and another in a low-top, but both retain the same look despite the different heights. The toebox features a duck boot-like armored finish, here in a black colorway with metallic silver accents, while a webbed look takes over the rest of the upper.
Branding is kept minimal with a metallic Swoosh on the collar and “Force” text on the top of the tongue. Below, the midsole features a wavy finish around the toe, but switches to a standard look toward the back half of the model. We don’t know the exact tech specs for the new sneaker, but the sole unit does come with ZoomX branding, so expect advanced cushioning with potentially embedded Air units within the tooling.
Nike GT Force Release Details
The Nike GT Force is expected to release sometime in 2027 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price has not been confirmed.
