One of fashion's biggest trends in 2022, gorpcore, makes utility and function the number one priority when it comes to both footwear and apparel. Helping sneakers fill this role is Gore-Tex, the weather-resistant material that has graced plenty of silhouettes from brands like Nike or more technically focused designs from Salomon. In the case of Nike, their use of the material elevates their typical lifestyle sneakers into shoes ready to brace the elements. Alongside the recently revealed Nike Air Max 90 Gore-Tex “Black Sequoia" and "Black Off-Noir," the model is also getting a “Photon Dust” makeover.
Just like the aforementioned “Black Sequoia” colorway, this “Photon Dust” iteration comes dressed in a mixture of leather, TPU, and ripstop nylon that takes on a neutral shade throughout. The toebox, tongue, and collar get a white makeover while photon dust appears on the leather mudguards, the second of which features “Gore-Tex” branding in place of the typical “Air Max” logo. This same branding detail also appears on top of the ripstop nylon tongue in a black embroidery while the lace set gets a tonal grey makeover. Rounding out the upper is the TPU overlays around the eyestays and heel tab, the latter of which hosts “Nike Air” branding. Completing the entire design of the sneaker is a white foam midsole featuring grey TPU around the exposed Air unit paired with a black rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 90 Gore-Tex Photon Dust is set to release on November 10th, 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
