Over its four decade long life span, the Air Force 1 has somehow managed to infiltrate various fashion trends, style tribes, and subcultures. With that said, when you think about it, the Bruce Kilgore-designed sneaker was made for just one thing: To play basketball. Many modern sneakerheads probably don't realize that the AF1 was originally made for on-court use, and as we celebrate its 40th birthday, we're going back to its original roots with the Nike Air Force 1 Low "Basketball."
Just like the Air More Uptempo "Basketball" that was unveiled a few days ago, the Air Force 1 version takes its inspiration quite literally. Across the side panels you'll find a pair of Swooshes that are done up in orange trance and finished in a b-ball-like texture. This overlays on top of a sail upper, that drops the usual all-leather construction in favor of a mesh and leather combination that offers added ventilation with every step. Phantom-hued Nike branding is stamped onto the heel, and to round it all off, a metallic silver brushed steel dubrae finalizes the design.
Incredibly clean, the Nike Air Force 1 Low Basketball W was originally set to release on October 19th, 2022. After a small delay, it will now drop on November 9th. A women's exclusive, retail is set at $120 and will be available at Nike and select retailers both online and in-store across the globe.
