Deion Sanders’ Nike Air Diamond Turf 2 is Back in Fire Red

These days, the prospect of an athlete playing in both the NFL and MLB at the same time sounds patently absurd. The specialization of today’s pro athletes and their focus on preventing injury makes the concept of Aaron Judge lining up at Tight End or Stefon Diggs playing Center Field sound crazy. But in the late 20th century, Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders did just that, proving that they could keep up with the greatest in the world on any playing field, with Sanders playing for both the San Francisco 49ers in 1994 and the San Francisco Giants in 1995.

As we get ready for the Super Bowl to arrive in San Francisco (well, nearby Santa Clara) and Nike going all out to bring back Deion’s Diamond Turf line at the same time, it's only right that a Niners-friendly Fire Red colorway hits shelves the same month as the Big Game.

One of the most popular retros from the shoe’s OG release, the Fire Red Diamond Turf 2 features an all-red nubuck upper with white leather panels swooping on either side of the lace panel back to the heel. The midsole trades red and black, while the vented mesh behind the side panels adds hits of gold to complete the Niners colorway. On the tongue, Sanders’ number 21 is surrounded by red mini Swooshes.
