For some college athletics programs, one particular shoe sponsor just makes sense. The University of Maryland is rooted in Under Armour the same way the University of Oregon is rooted in Nike, and for some colleges, an otherworldly star tips their hand. At the University of South Carolina, a Nike partnership announced last year is finally coming to fruition, starting with a 1-of-1 pair of A’ja Wilson’s signature shoe.

New Shoes for South Carolina Hoopers

Giving Wilson’s former coach the first shot to debut the Gamecocks’ new sneaker deal, Dawn Staley took to IG last week to show off a 1-of-1 South Carolina-colored Nike A’Two PE. Starting with a metallic shine on the red patent leather upper, the left shoe adds white two-tone details, while the right shoe switches the accent color to black. Gamecocks logos are added to both tongues to make the co-branding clear.

"Having been a Nike athlete most of my life, I’m well-versed in what partnership with them means to an organization and its athletes," Staley said about the new partnership. "I am excited that all of our teams at South Carolina will get to feel that too. For our women’s basketball team, only good things have happened when we’ve partnered with A’ja Wilson, so I look forward to what’s coming next in that legacy."
