New Balance is the king of the dad shoes category, hosting some of the footwear industry's most iconic and comfortable chunky runners. While mesh runners and techy, 2010s designs are all the rage, the brand hasn't forgotten its roots. The 991v2, released at the end of last year, introduced an update to the famed 991 model. It has become one of the mainstays from the Made in UK lineup. Now, just after getting our first looks at Kith’s take on the silhouette, Flimby has produced another greyscale colorway on the model, giving the sneaker a Dark Gull Grey color scheme.
Premium pigskin suede in a dark grey shade hits the mudguard, midfoot panels, and heel overlay, complementing the tonal mesh visible on the toe and collar. Leather panels on the toebox also come in this dark grey hue, matching the shade of the panel along the tongue that contains New Balance and 991v2 branding details. Popping on the midfoot is the white N logo, trimmed with dark grey, while the lateral heel overlay comes with embroidered 991 text in white. The final details on the upper are the cream lace set, grey heel overlay, and the v2 logo on the heel tab. The silhouette is grounded by the cream, white, and grey FuelCell-cushioned midsole paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 991v2 Made in UK Dark Gull Grey has already released in select overseas markets, with a US drop expected before the year’s end. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $250.
