Initially introduced in the late 1980s as a basketball shoe, the New Balance 550 has become one of the most popular sneakers of the last several years. For its latest makeover, New Balance has dressed the 550 in a women’s exclusive “Sea Salt Green.”
The sneaker features grey suede panels on the mudguard, a perforated overlay at the midfoot, and a nappy heel overlay to add texture and depth to the design. The toe box and midfoot panel come in a clean white leather, while the distinctive “N” logo, vamp mesh, and a nubuck overlay on the collar are highlighted in rich green. The tongue displays the 550 basketball graphic and New Balance branding in white, green, and grey. A cream rubber panel on the heel contrasts sharply with the surrounding grey and perfectly complements the grey midsole and outsole.
The New Balance 550 Sea Salt Green (W) will release in July through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
