Without a shadow of doubt, the New Balance 550 has become one of the most sought-after silhouettes of 2022. While many new school sneakerheads tend to believe that this is an all-new model that's just been unveiled, old school sneakerheads would know that the 550 was actually unveiled back in the '80s during the height of the basketball boom. Even still, its design has pretty much remained unchanged since, showing just how timeless the aesthetic is. For one of its latest colorways, the Boston-based brand is going back to basics with the New Balance 550 "Marblehead."
Arriving in a full leather construction that's smooth to the touch, perforated panels along the laterals and medials give this shoe that retro look that we all know and love. A glossy inlaid "N" logo hits the sides, followed by "550" branding just before it. Light grey tones accent the collar and heel for a very subtle pop of contrast, and this extends all the way towards the rubber outsole underfoot, which has been specifically designed for on-court use. With that said, even if you don't plan to use these to play basketball, they're the perfect everyday shoe as well.
The New Balance 550 Marblehead is set to release on October 6th, 2022 via Footlocker. It will be available at New Balance and a select stockists worldwide, both online and in-store, at a later date.
