The 550 silhouette gets a regal-like colorway.
After sitting in the NB archives for decades, the New Balance 550 was revived thanks to Aime Leon Dore founder, Teddy Santis. The now-Creative Director of New Balance’s Made in USA line released a pack of collaborative colorways on the model, though, after their release, NB themselves released plenty of inline colorways for the general public. It seems like this won't stop as we’re getting first looks at the upcoming New Balance 550 "Cream Navy Gold."
Coming dressed in a mixture of smooth and tumbled leather across the majority of the upper, the silhouette gets a neutral base with navy and gold accents throughout. The leather panels from heel to toe take on a cream shade while the perforated midfoot overlay’s edges get covered in navy. More of these blue hits land on the mudguard with an NB logo stamped atop the leather and on the sockliner. Passing by gold “550” text is a set of cream flat laces, working up to the “NB 550” tongue tag with its basketball graphic coming in the regal shade of gold seen on other branding details. Around the collar sits a navy mesh, wrapping around another golden NB logo on the left pair and a retro “New Balance” logo on the right. Underfoot, a cream rubber midsole gets paired with a two-tone grey and cream non-marking rubber outsole.
The New Balance 550 Cream Navy Gold is slated to release in 2022 through New Balance and select NB retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $110.
