The classic basketball shoe gets a canvas construction.

While many newer sneakerheads would naturally automatically assume that the 550 is an all-new silhouette made for the modern era, old school fans will know that this model actually debuted in the late '80s during the peak of the basketball craze. Over the past 40 years, New Balance's classic b-ball shoe has been made from nothing but leather or suede, but for the first time ever, it's getting a clean canvas construction with the upcoming New Balance 550 Canvas "Cream Olive."
If you're an admirer of the 550's vintage design but leather just isn't your thing, then this 550 Canvas has been made specifically with you in mind. Painted in a crisp cream palette, beige accents adorn the laces and "N" logo that's inlaid across the lateral and medial side panels with a matte finish. A basketball graphic features on the tongue tag as a nod back to its roots, and underfoot, you'll find a midsole that's been covered in speckles for an even more interesting aesthetic. This is subtly contrasted by tonal "Olive" hues across the outsole and heel, finalizing the retro rework.
The New Balance 550 Canvas Cream Olive is set to release in Holiday 2022. It'll be available in men's sizes for $110 at New Balance and select retailers online and in-store across the globe. More Canvas colorways are expected to launch very soon, so make sure that you it locked on Sole Retriever's Twitter and Mobile App to stay up to date on the latest and greatest releases!
