As of late, New Balance has taken silhouettes back from the archives and worked them into the modern day (see the New Balance 550 or 2002R). One model that is starting to get that treatment is the 1906R, which recently has been seen in a slew of colorways from Cordura Olive to a vintage patriotic look. Taking inspiration from the 2002R Refined Futures Pack, which is more commonly referred to as the Protection Pack, the silhouette is once again joining the eroded future envisioned by NB, though it flips the script compared to the previously revealed colorway of the New Balance 1906D.

A tonal cream shade covers the various shaggy suede overlays that maintain their original shape and placement, though they appear to be eroded, cut roughly along their edges as they rest atop a similarly shaded canvas underlay. The tongue and lace set follow suit with the monochromatic shade while accenting details appear on the silver “N” logo along the midfoot as well as through the black sockliner located nearby. On the heel, a cream-shaded plastic overlay is a home for the black “1906D” branding detail. Underfoot, an all-black sole unit borrowed from the 860v2 completes this two-tone design.

The New Balance 1906D Protection Pack Cream Black is slated to release in 2023 through New Balance and select NB retailers online and in-store. As of now, sizing and pricing information is TBA.
