Million Dollar Cooper Flagg Topps Rookie Debut Patch Card has been Pulled, Other Major Hits Remain In Packs

The long national wait is over. After (checks calendar) five days, the Cooper Flagg Topps Rookie Debut Autograph Patch card has been pulled. The redemption* for the card was pulled on a livestream by Rhody Breaks, a channel affiliated with Baseball Cards of Rhode Island in North Kingston. According to the video, the name/pseudonym of the person who pulled the card is Jason Williams. No word if it is actually Jason “White Chocolate” Williams, but the serendipity of the iconic Sacramento Kings guard being the NBA player to pull the top card of one of the most hyped players of this generation is too funny to ignore.

Since the announcement that the Flagg card would be inserted into packs of 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball, the chase for the card has driven prices of the product to uncharted levels. Single hobby boxes launched at the Topps website for $549.99 but were quickly being resold for double. Big-name collectors and influencers were throwing up million-dollar bounties for whoever pulled the card.

The publicity from the bounty was even drawing attention from outlets like the New York Times. Even the Dallas Mavericks were offering three decades’ worth of season tickets and other perks for the card, despite the actual value of the said offer being laughably low in comparison. Estimates of the card’s value range from $1 million to $5 million, a wide range that will only grow if Flagg is as good as advertised in the coming years.

Although the biggest card in the entire product has been pulled, there are still a number of major hits that have yet to be discovered, including the Rookie Debut Patch Autograph cards of Dylan Harper, Kon Knueppel, and VJ Edgecombe, not to mention various one-of-a-kind Superfractor cards of the aforementioned rookies along with superstars like LeBron James, Luka Dončić, Jalen Brunson, and many others. Rare cards featuring several NBA players as Minions are also selling in the tens of thousands of dollars.

In short, anybody hoping that the prices of hobby boxes will dramatically drop now is going to be very disappointed. If any combination of the Harper, Knueppel, or Edgecombe cards remains unclaimed and they continue to ascend to star status, those box prices will only rise over time. In baseball, Dodgers ace pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Debut Patch Autograph Card was part of 2024 Topps Chrome Update Baseball and has yet to be redeemed, causing resale prices to remain elevated.

*While the card could have been inserted into the packs, its relative weight would have made it easy for people to search for them and other debut patch cards by weighing packs and boxes. Yes, it is that serious out here in these trading card streets.
