We’re in an age where independent designers can grow a following, and eventually a full-blown brand, through social media. All it takes is a few viral posts and the right endorsements to go from someone chasing a dream to actually living it, and Mattias Gollin can most definitely speak to this experience. The Italian designer founded the footwear collective RAL7000STUDIO, but he eventually left to pursue solo work in 2024, gaining popularity for custom Timberland boots encrusted in jewels that caught the attention of Drake.
From there, he’s continued his 1-of-1 and ultra-limited runs of custom footwear and official collabs with the likes of Vans. Following a pop-up installation at Dover Street Market, which featured new Vans sneakers, Mattias has given the world a preview of a new Timberland Field Boot collab.

Staying in line with his signature jewel-covered design language, Mattias Gollin’s Timberland Field Boot comes covered in tonal black pearls. Thousands of hand-placed pearls in various sizes cover the upper of the blacked-out boot, which also features mesh and leather paneling. A Mattias Gollin-branded gold tag is applied to the lateral collar, while standard Timberland branding is found on the tongue and the added leather hangtag. Underfoot sits a black Field Boot midsole and outsole.
