Young Thug’s love for jewelry is no secret. The Atlanta rapper has been drenched in ice since before he had any hits, and as his star rose, so did his collection of diamonds, gold, and various other shiny precious metals. Since getting out of jail, he’s jumped right back to his blinged-out ways, and for his Coachella performance over the weekend, Young Thug tapped Italian designer and frequent Vans collaborator Mattias Gollin for a couple of pairs of custom Slip-Ons.
The SP5DER x Mattias Gollin Vans Slip-Ons keep up the bejeweled trend from the SoCal sneaker company that Gollin started, but has since evolved to in-line packs of pearlized Old Skools. With the music world watching the California desert, Gollin customized two pairs of classic Vans Slip-Ons with pearls and beads, with Thug wearing the black pair on stage for his performance.
In addition to the black pair that Thug wore during his show, Gollin also created a triple-white checkered colorway. Both pairs feature distressed uppers and strings of hand-placed pearls and beads in the shape of spider webs as a callout to Thug’s SP5DER clothing line.
The SP5DER x Mattias Gollin Vans Slip-Ons were made custom for Young Thug and won’t be released to the public, but if you try hard enough, you might be able to cop a consolation pair from the heavily hyped Vans Pearlized Pack.
