Marvin Harrison Jr. Signs With New Balance

For decades, many have considered New Balance a running brand or a “dad shoe” maker. However, the Boston-based brand has expanded its reach in sports with moves in baseball, basketball, and, more recently, football. Now, ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, New Balance has announced the signing of Marvin Harrison Jr., a standout wide receiver and one of the most anticipated prospects in the draft. Alongside Harrison Jr., New Balance has signed other NFL players, including Chase Young and Will Anderson Jr., in the last year as they push into the football market.

Marvin Harrison Jr., hailing from Philadelphia and earning accolades such as two-time unanimous All-American and the 2023 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner, brings a wealth of skill and determination to the field. His remarkable performance at Ohio State University, culminating in 14 touchdowns, 67 receptions, and 1,211 yards in the 2023 season, solidified his status as a top-tier prospect in American football.

The partnership between Marvin and New Balance marks a significant moment for both parties. Marvin expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Family is very important to me and joining a family brand like New Balance felt like I was building a relationship that centers on trust and shared values." His involvement with New Balance extends beyond endorsement, as he will collaborate closely with the brand's design team to enhance performance cleats and feature prominently in brand campaigns.

New Balance is looking to disrupt the American football cleat market with the launch of its inaugural collection. Marvin's involvement underscores New Balance's commitment to merging comfort and performance, challenging the notion that players must compromise one for the other.

“From the first conversation with Marvin it was clear that he was a perfect fit for us at New Balance, his drive, passion and incredible work ethic speak to the person that he is on and off the field,” says Naveen Lokesh New Balance Head of Global Sports Marketing for American Football and Basketball. “His dedication to everything he does will help us launch New Balance into the American Football category and push the boundaries of what athletes can do to inspire the next generation. We are excited to start this journey together and co-author our legacy in sport culture.”
