Lionel Messi is on a short list of the world’s most famous athletes. The soccer superstar’s clout was on full display when he signed with MLS squad Inter Miami and moved to South Florida. Not only were Messi and his family swarmed every time they stepped into a Publix, but he helped turn up the heat on MLS fandom in a way that we’ve only seen from David Beckham and his time with the LA Galaxy nearly 20 years ago.
Ronnie, Messi, and The Three Stripes
As Messi gets ready to join Argentina for yet another World Cup, the Miami star is linking with another South Beach hype machine, Kith, for a full collection in collaboration with Messi’s longtime footwear sponsor, adidas. First previewed by Ronnie Fieg last week, a new campaign starring Messi introduces the wide-ranging collection that covers everything from a Supreme-style portrait photo tee to track suits, jerseys, a double-breasted suit, branded soccer balls, and six collab sneakers.
Modeled by the man himself, we haven’t gotten a clear breakdown on the exact details of the collection. From the campaign, though, we can clearly see pairs of a black and blue Megaride, and similarly colored F50, and two pairs of Sambas, one in Inter Miami pink, and another in cream with multi-color accents. That makes two pairs that we’re still waiting to see.
Joining the apparel and sneakers are commemorative sports cards, featuring an image of Messi holding the World Cup trophy and another with Messi displaying his championship rings. These will be included as a gift when you purchase any of the jerseys or footwear styles. A limited number of these cards will be signed by Messi and have a PSA grade already attached.
